Profile

Kathy SHUM graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology and Master’s Degree in Physiology, with special research interest in diabetes. She chose to pursue a career in education after obtaining her Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Hong Kong. After seven years of teaching at a secondary school, she started anew in the field of psychology under the Postgraduate Certificate of Psychology, and continued to complete her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Hong Kong. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Department Psychology and the director of the Master of Social Sciences Programme in Educational Psychology at the University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include reading acquisition, biliteracy development, educational intervention, curriculum and instruction, and children with ASD and ADHD.
